In the world of vehicle mounted recorders embedded recorders are at a distinct
advantage over PC based recorders. Embedded recorders such as the DVR Express
Mobile, are much more compact and rugged than PCs. This allows them to operate
in many more locations under tougher conditions. One of the largest advantages
of DVR Express Mobile recorders is its low power consumption and 12V power
input. This allows for easy integration into the vehicle without the need
for converting to AC power.

On-Board a Helicopter with the
DVR Express Mobile
For an operator in a helicopter,
there is nothing better than the DVR Express Mobile. The simple touchscreen
interface is designed mainly for ease of use. Recording and playback from
any set or subset of devices can be coordinated with the touch of a finger
on a few simple menus. Synchronization with GPS data and other IO devices
allows for easy data processing and export through Streams™ 5 when the flight
is finished.
Rail Inspection and
the DVR Express Blade
In rail inspection applications many cameras are used to rebuild an image of the rail and surrounding assets of the railroad. In the example, eight line scan cameras are used to record the rail, while an area scan camera is used to record the assets around the locomotive. All of these cameras are synchronized with GPS data using a timing source or axle encoder. When recording is finished an inspector can review the data from an office as if he was actually aboard the train.
